Take a minute and think back to the last few games you have played.  Have you experienced any of the following scenarios in the games that you played?

  • Steep learning curve and/or not understanding the rules of the game

  • Lack of natural flow to get you to next level, action or sequence

  • A storyline that doesn’t make sense or leaves you confused

  • Getting bored with repetitive actions and lack of depth

If you have ever experienced any of the above while playing a game, you probably didn’t stick around to play that game for very long.  All of these elements are just a few examples of why good Game Design is so critical.

Too often brilliant engineers pour their heart and soul into developing amazing tech to run a next generation game.  However without paying attention to proper game design their work of art fails to reach success because it cannot retain users.

The purpose of this course is to begin a journey into what Game Design is, the role of the Game Deisgner and start designing your very first game.
